Master Gardener's Plant Sale

While in Tacoma this past weekend, I went with Momma Mo to the Washington State University Master Gardener's Plant Sale. It was a feast for the eyes with beautiful, locally grown plants sold by the original growers. An entire room was dedicated to tomato plants complete with free educational material and helpful attendants. It was a great way to start the day. I left with two roma tomato plants, one sungold tomato plant, three Tradescantia zebrina, aka "Wandering Jew," and a bunch of gardening know-how that I didn't walk in with.

Hope this collage (of only a fraction of the plants I saw) inspires you to get outside and create your dream garden.

(and yes, I totally copied-and-pasted this post from my other blog. Don't judge me.)

So much improvement

Each Monday in preschool, Matthew does a book for a letter in the alphabet. He was so excited to complete "z," knowing that meant he was ever so close to kindergarten. Throughout the alphabet it has been a delight to watch his writing improve. I am so proud of him and know that his confidence will be to his advantage this September, when he starts at Binsmead Elementary.

Practicing in Photoshop

Although I find Photoshop extremely intimidating, the results can be breathtaking. I am obsessed with color tinting. A few more hours of practice (like hundreds) and I'll be able to take my photos to the next level.

Congrats Riggs Family

I wanted everyone to know that Erin delivered her baby boy, Ashton, safely and at full-term, on April 16th. She is now the proud mother of two. I am delighted that both Mom and Baby are happy and healthy and can't wait to meet the little guy. Loves to the (expanded) Riggs Family.

can't take my eyes away, even for a second

Natalya found a box that had styrofoam in it and found unending pleasure in ripping it apart. She was covered in the stuff. However, it could have been worse. Matthew thought she "got into the glue." Ahhh... what a life.

Easter

We had a quiet Easter this year. No big meal, no company, no trip to Tacoma. It was a a nice kind of quiet though.

Its a step in the right direction

Whenever Carlos refers to the kids as mine, "come see what YOUR daughter is doing," I know something's up. Yes, Talya climbed into the toilet. Look at how delighted she is with herself! When I pulled her out and removed her soaking pants and socks, I realized that she pooped in her diaper. It's a step.... :)

get the camera

Carlos was outside with the kids while I prepared dinner. He came to the kitchen window and yelled, "Babe, get the camera." Naturally, I thought one of the kids was doing something cute so without questioning I grabbed the camera and ran outside. He was standing near the curb in front of our house pointing to a twenty dollar bill laying on the ground. "You can put this on your blog, " he said. Ah yes, I have brought him to the dark side. :)

Wishing you find a homeless $20 this weekend too!

occluded fallopian tubes

This past Monday, after a visit to Epic Imaging, I found out that my fallopian tubes are occluded. Resulting from the Essure procedure that I had in December 2008, I am sterile.  I highly recommend it to any woman looking for permanent birth control. The procedure was painless, out-patient, and much less invasive than tubal ligation. My only stipulation would be to research a OBGYN that has performed the Essure procedure often, as it is a fairly new option. Visit http://www.essure.com/ for tons of helpful information. Also, feel free to email me with any questions.

I am so grateful for my children. They complete my life in the most amazing way. But I am now done having babies. Carlos and I have moved on to the "watching them grow" stage of life and are enjoying every step and every minute of this magical journey.

cherry blossoms

The past two days have been glorious. We spent most of the day outside, tending the garden, and our souls.

visual stimulation

when i was little, magazines and catalogs could keep me occupied for hours. turns out Natalya likes the visual stimulation as well. and btw- i am debating cutting her bangs. well, going somewhere to have someone else do it. what do you think?

running water attacks

After sticking her head under the running water Talya looked at me like, "did you see what that thing just did to me?"

"mom, your dinner's on fire"

Matthew: "Mom, your dinner's on fire."

Me:     *bolt from bathroom to kitchen*

Matthew: "See all that smoke. It's a fire."

Me:     *gasp of relief followed by explanation of steam and clarification that yes steam can burn you but doesn't mean it's a fire*

friendly faces

Matthew and I discovered these friendly faces on our evening walk. Each one was at a different residence. Noticing them as we walked by was such a great surprise!

I think they are the cutest thing and had to find out where to buy them. Turns out Target carries them online and Terry's Village has one that is a bird feeder with glow-in-the-dark eyes.  I'm going with the bird feeder.
